Jubilee:Stop Blaming The Opposition ,Hold Up and Correct Your mistakes

"Jubilee government should be given time to exercise  its agenda" We are all familiar with repetitive phrase  it is now the new "Tunaomba Serikali" phrase but unlike the later this it is mostly from the leaders and Not the wananchi.
The Jubilee sycophants, sympathizers, self professed activists and political scientists, and PR machinery have been singing this song every time they hit the podium at rallies, weddings and even funerals. These are the folks who have now become like co-presenters in media houses.
We know them, they are always on you TV screen every evening and on your  Radio next morning  in the breakfast show.
This bunch of idle leaders say a lot of nothing during the so called interviews. Their main agenda is Raila Odainga, the villain. The pest that ought to be exterminated or silenced if this government is to provide any service worth mention to its populous.
Let me inform these folks that Kenyans gave the Jubilee government go a right to exercise its mandate on March 4th 2013. What other time are you asking to be given?
Kenya is a democratic country ,with a constitution that acknowledges  the place of the opposition, this is not a monarch or a dictatorship.
The opposition role is to keep the government of the day in check. They are the government in waiting. The problem is there are intolerant people in this government and the country in general. the likes who will not take any correction , too blind to see their flaws that are too glare and wants to show 'who is the boss'.
The opposition may be riding overboard, but this should no be an excuse for the government not to play it role. How is the noise about Saba Saba and the national dialogue barring the digital government from procuring the laptops for class one kids for instance?
The government must refrain from blaming their flaws to the opposition: "There is no security problem in Kenya. That is opposition propaganda." Tourism CS Phylis Kandie speaking to BBC radio. And the only way to silence the opposition is serving Kenyans diligently Not paying media houses to soil the reputation of opposition leaders, that will only make them more popular.

There will never be a time for 'work and peace'. Politics will never take a break. Those are dump excuses. Live with it.

A Brazil fan has died after having a heart attack while watching his team’s penalty shootout victory over Chile in the World Cup.
The 69-year-old man was in a bar not far from the match itself at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte when he fell ill and was taken to hospital.
According to a spokesperson for the state health department, the man was taken to hospital but died two hours later. Officials said he had suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes, the Estado de Minas newspaper reported.
Health officials said that in total they had to treat 98 people during the match, including a 50-year-old woman who also had a heart problem while watching the shootout and a man whose nose was broken in a fight.

In Bogota, Colombia, last night a woman was reportedly killed by a stray bullet fired in celebration for the country’s win against Uruguay.
The mayor of Bogota was forced to issue a statement calling on people to be more careful when celebrating, after a number spilled out into the streets and fired guns into the air.
And it has also emerged that an England fan had a part of his ear “bitten off” during his team’s own match against Uruguay in the group stages.
The fan has made a formal complaint but the attacker, who is thought to be another England fan, has not been identified.

(medium sharing They even noted in their study, "People who posted a status not about the relationship were marginally more likable than those with a low relationship disclosure status."
So next time you post your relationship status on Facebook know you ain't pleasing everyone.

Suarez Punishment is Excessive- Chiellini

Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini has termed the punishment on Luis Suarez has excessive.
Suarez bit on the shoulder Chiellini during the Italy versus Uruguay world cup match that ended 2-1 in favor of Uruguay.

"Now inside me there's no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suarez for an incident that happened on the pitch and that's done. There only remain the anger and the disappointment about the match.
At the moment my only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period.
I have always considered unequivocal the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe that the proposed formula is excessive. I sincerely hope that he will be allowed, at least, to stay close to his team mates during the games because such a ban is really alienating for a player." - Giorgio Chiellini

India's New PM Becomes the Forth Most Followed World Leader on Twitter

@NarendraModi the India's Prime Minister who has been in power for just or so has hit five million plus followers on Twitter making the Forth most followed world leader. Modi has beating the likes of @WhiteHouse which has 4.78 million followers.
Although India has 200 million active web users,in 2009 there was there was only one Indian politician on Twitter -- Shashi Tharoor, who then had only 6,000 followers.
Dubbed “India’s first social media election” by CNN -- Twitter, Facebook and Google played a huge role in the new prime minister’s campaign. On Holi, a Hindu festival which took place in April, he sent his followers Direct Messages on Twitter, wishing them a happy holiday. Beyond that, he used GoogleHangouts and holograms during campaign appearances.
In 2013, 20 million Indian election-related conversations took place on Twitter. Modi, unlike his opponent Rahul \Gandhi, used Twitter relentlessly, and yes -- he posted a selfie.

Why Google doesn’t care about college degrees

Google isn’t big on college degrees, although the search giant is inundated with applicants touting perfect GPAs from Ivy League schools.
Google’s chairman and head of hiring, Laszlo Bock, has given a few insights in the New York Times on how he sorts through a multitude of bright applicants.
The upshot is that Google values the skills and experiences that candidates get in college, but a degree doesn’t tell them much about talent or grit.

You don’t need a college degree to be talented

“When you look at people who don’t go to school and make their way in the world, those are exceptional human beings. And we should do everything we can to find those people,” Bock said.
Many businesses “require” a college degree; at Google, the word “college” isn’t even its official guide to hiring. With the rise of self-paced college courses and vocational learning, plenty of driven people can teach themselves all of the necessary skills to work at the company.

Demonstrate a skill, not an expertise

“If you take somebody who has high cognitive ability, is innately curious, willing to learn and has emergent leadership skills, and you hire them as an HR person or finance person, and they have no content knowledge, and you compare them with someone who’s been doing just one thing and is a world expert, the expert will go: ‘I’ve seen this 100 times before; here’s what you do,’” Bock said.
College degrees are, almost by definition, a certificate of expertise. A degree in journalism is a giant badge meant to tell the world that you know at least a little bit about the trade of telling stories and interviewing people.
But a degree really doesn’t say what a graduate can do. Can they present an idea in front of a crowd? Can they build a website? Can they think interestingly about problems, or did they just pass some tests?

Logic is learned, and stats are superimportant

“Humans are by nature creative beings, but not by nature logical, structured-thinking beings. Those are skills you have to learn,” Bock said. “I took statistics at business school, and it was transformative for my career. Analytical training gives you a skill set that differentiates you from most people in the labor market.”
Logical thinking goes way beyond programming. For instance, back in 2010, Facebook put up a blog post claiming that political candidates with more fans were more likely to win their race, implying that getting more Facebook fans would improve their chances. In no uncertain terms, this was a phenomenally bad argument.
Maybe candidates who were already more popular just happened to have more fans. And what about candidates with fewer fans that won their races? In these cases, why did fans not matter?
The Facebook employees who ran the statistics understood some basic logic, but they didn’t demonstrate analytical thinking. Sifting through data requires training in the latest techniques for understanding causality and creatively exploring patterns (FYI: Facebook has gotten a lot better about these types of political claims since 2010).

Prove grit

“It looks like the thing that separates out the capable students from the really successful ones is not so much their knowledge…but their persistence at something,” Google chairman, Eric Schmidt said.
For some people, college is just really easy. They can play 10 rounds of beer-pong until 4 a.m. and still ace an organic-chemistry exam the next day while their studious roommate is up to their eyeballs in color-coded flash cards and squeaks by with a B.
A college degree can’t tell Google whether an applicant is naturally smart or is a hard worker. Apparently, Google would rather mold someone with grit rather than someone who is a lazy high-achiever.

If you go to college, focus on skills

“My belief is not that one shouldn’t go to college … most don’t put enough thought into why they’re going and what they want to get out of it,” Block said.
Both Bock and Schmidt are adamant that most people should go to college but that skills and experience are more important than the stamp of expertise. Bock says Google is looking for the kinds of projects candidates completed or what they accomplished at an internship.
I honestly can’t remember the last time someone asked me what my major in college was. If you want a job at Google (or some other prestigious company), don’t focus so much on your major, and make sure you graduate with all the skills and experiences you need to do awesome things in the world-VB News

Could This Be The RE-BIRTH OF USSR?

Markets

Eurasian Emblem
Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have agreed to set up an economic union, in a deal signed Thursday by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterparts, media reports said. The Eurasian Economic Union reunites the former Soviet countries in a project to develop a shared market and to harmonize economic policy, beginning January 1, 2015. Ukraine was in talks to join the union before the ouster of former president Viktor Yanukovych by opposition groups focused on an EU alliance. While the newly elected Ukraine government is seen as likely to pursue an EU pact, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko appeared confident it will sign up. "I am sure one day the leaders of Ukraine will understand where the country's happiness is," he said at the signing ceremony in Kazakhstan's capital Astana, the Wall Street Journal reported. Of the remaining former Soviet republics, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are expected to join the Eurasian Economic Union.
The EURO zone has never really acted or appeared to be a power block that matches the collapsed USSR. In fact it is more or less of USA puppet .
The EURO zone has never been a rival to the so called Super power.
China has put on an economic rivalry. It is not enough, we would do with another economic power horse for the markets of our products especially here in Africa.

Google Unveils New Android Version

Google Inc. (GOOG) unveiled a new version of its Android software for smartphones and other devices as it battles Apple Inc. to be the foundation for mobile technology.

The new version of Android, the first major update of the mobile operating system since last year, will let developers easily implement features such as animations and will include more privacy tools, Google executives said at the company’s annual developer gathering in San Francisco. The Web-search company also showed a new Android television service and new wearable devices underpinned by Android and rolled out software that will work in cars.

Google is looking beyond its traditional desktop Web-search business and is expanding its software into new devices as consumers increasingly gravitate to mobile computing. Competition is stiff, with Apple and others jockeying for a bigger share of the mobile market. Google’s annual developer conference is key to its efforts to continually refresh Android and maintain support from software makers. The company is also spreading Android into new areas, including vehicles.

“We have been working very hard,” Google’s head of Android, Sundar Pichai, said at the event, adding that the system now has more than 1 billion active users. “This is one of the most comprehensive releases we have done.”

Smartphones based on Android, which Google gives to hardware manufacturers for free, made up 78 percent of the global industry in 2013, up from 66 percent in 2012, according to Gartner Inc. The No. 2 player was Apple’s iPhone, which had 16 percent, down from 19 percent. An early version of the next Android software will be available to programmers tomorrow.

Crowded Market

“With Apple already in the TV and car space and rumored to be attacking wearables, Google doesn’t want developers to have any excuse to choose Apple’s ecosystem over Android,” Carl Howe, an analyst at the Yankee Group Inc., wrote in an e-mail. “Google wants to ensure that it is all those places too.”
The event was interrupted twice by protesters with one raising concerns about Google’s efforts into robotics. Both were eventually dealt with by security workers and Google executives joked about the interruptions from the stage.
Google’s rivals are also expanding software options for mobile phones and tablets. Earlier this month, Apple introduced new health and connected-home features for its iOS software powering the iPhone and iPad. Amazon.com Inc. last week unveiled the Fire Phone, adding its lineup of tablets and television hardware.

Emerging Markets

The new version of Android will include more privacy tools and a feature that lets people disable their smartphone if they get stolen. The new software will also let developers more easily put in animations, shadows and lighting so that users get a more real-life experience when they touch objects on a screen, said Google’s Android design chief, Matias Duarte.
To foster the growth of Android in emerging markets, which are some of the biggest growth areas for mobile devices, Google rolled out an initiative called Android One to develop low-cost smartphones, beginning with three manufacturers in India. Pichai referenced an Android One device that costs less than $100 as an example.
“We are working with carriers in these markets to provide affordable carrier packages with these devices,” Pichai said at the event.

Wearable Devices

Google also showed new smartwatches, with one from LG Electronics Inc. that had apps loaded onto it and that is immediately available through Google’s Play online store. Some of the watches have capabilities that include using the gadget as a remote control for other devices. While Samsung Electronics Co. has been offering smartwatches with its Gear lineup, some of which are based on competing software called Tizen, Google will begin selling a new Samsung watch supporting Android Wear today, called Gear Live.
Google’s push into wearable devices comes as Apple looks to move into the market. Several analysts have said Apple may unveil a smartwatch later this year.
Google also unveiled plans to get Android into the living room. While the company has already introduced software for televisions and the Chromecast dongle for streaming Web content to TVs, more devices will debut featuring upgraded Android software, Google said today. Sony Corp., Sharp Corp., LG Electronics and Asustek Computer Inc. will be among the partners for Android TV.

TVs, Cars

At today’s event, Google also introduced Android Auto, its bid to get the software into cars. With Andy Brenner, a Google product manager, seated in a car on stage, the company said Android Auto will bring digital tools and media into vehicles, with capabilities for tailored maps. Developers will be able to use a software development kit to create apps for cars, the company said. Some cars will begin including Android Auto by the end of the year.
Google said it’s acquiring Appurify Inc., a provider of testing software for mobile applications. Terms of the purchase weren’t disclosed.
The Web company also unveiled new tools to tie its Android platform with its Chromebook laptop lineup. That includes deeper integration with Android applications from smartphones, giving easy access to software such as note-taking service Evernote Corp.
Google also unveiled new tools for bringing Android and Google services in the workplace. That included Google Drive for Work, an online storage service that includes security extras for businesses.-Bloomberg

A Dark Day for Media Freedom

The world has condemned Egypt after finding Al Jazeera journalists guilty. Two have been sentenced to a  jail term of seven and one to ten years by an Egyptian court .Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy, and Baher Mohamed were convicted for aiding the Muslim Brotherhood and reporting false news.
Baher Mohamed got an addition of three years for possession of ammunition; a used bullet casing he picked from the ground during the protests.
The three were arrested in December last year as they covered th e aftermath  of Morsi ouster in July.
The Muslim Brotherhood that saw ousted president Morsi ascend to presidency last year, was declared a "terrorist" organization by the interim president Adly Mansour .
Other Al Jazeera journalists Alaa Bayoumi, Anas Abdel-Wahab Khalawi Hasan,  Khaleel Aly Khaleel Bahnasy, Mohamed Fawzi, Dominic Kane, and Sue Turton.were tried in absentia and sentenced to 10 years in jail.
Al Jazeera has termed the verdict as  defying "logic, sense and any semblance of justice".There is only one sensible outcome now. For the verdict to be overturned, and justice to be recognized by Egypt," Al Jazeera English managing director Al Anstey said in a statement.
"Today three colleagues and friends were sentenced, and will continue to be kept behind bars for doing a brilliant job of being great journalists. 'Guilty' of covering stories with great skill and integrity. 'Guilty' of defending people’s right to know what is going on in their world," Anstey said in a statement.
There are emerging questions as to why the US has given Egypt $500 million as military aid. Am not surprised by this, last year Hillary Clinton was accused of having a hand in planning and funding the Morsi coup d'etat. The boggling question is whether USA is funding militia to oust legitimate governments, create puppet leadership and fund them to fight perceived terrorists.
The verdict is a dark day for the media freedom that is enshrined in sober democracies .
The verdict can however be appealed in a higher court of law.  Egypt's public prosecutor last week ordered the release of another Al Jazeera journalist, Abdullah al-Shamy, on health grounds after he spent more than 130 days on hunger strike.

Al jazeera was banned from live coverage in Egypt on July 3 , hours after Morsi ouster.

Klose equals Ronaldo record,as Asamoah levels Roger Milla

The Germany versus Ghana  match was surely one of the most entertaining matches to football lovers this World Cup season. It was match between teams in  Group G,arguably The Group of Death.
Although many people had bet for Germany,it is fair to say Ghana displayed a better game and were favorite to win if it were not for a few mistakes their forwards made in the second half. The full time score was  2-2 draw.Mario Gotze 51',Adrea  Abey 54', Asamoah Gyan 63', and Miroslav Klose 71'

Klose equaled Brasil's Ronaldo record tally of 15 world cup goals while Asamoah leveled Roger Milla (the oldest player to score in FIFA Wold Cup) as the Africa's record scorer with his 5th World Cup goal.

Amazon's Fire Phone Unveiled

 Fire Phone

Amazon.com Inc(AMZN) has entered into the smartphone market with an handset called Fire Phone. it is a move aimed to battle out with current giants in the industry Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics Co.
According to Amazon C.E.O Jeff Bezos  the Fire Phone ,which is black with a rubber frame  and 4.7 inch display, will give consumers access to other devices and services by the company.
The phone has a 3-D viewing and image recognition technology that will make it easer for the consumers to buys items from Amazon's web store. The handset will retail at $199.99 at AT&T Inc from July 25.
Amazon has expanded from a n online book seller to a global technology giant by building a number of consumer electronics devices, including e-readers, tablets and TV set-top boxes, as a way to get its online store and digital services more directly in front of customers.
Fire Phone will join Amazon’s ecosystem of devices so that when a consumer is watching a movie using the company’s set-top box, the phone can pull up the actors and other information about what’s being viewed through the IMDB service that is owned by the Web retailer. The smartphone will also give customers access to Amazon’s “Mayday” technology-help service.
The handset’s image-recognition technology, called “Firefly,” will let the device figure out what a customer is looking at so the user can buy the item online. It can recognize more than 100 million items, with consumers simply taking a picture of a book, DVD or other product to link back to Amazon’s store. The phone will also have audio recognition for movies and TV shows, which Amazon also carries.
                                         Pricing
A Fire Phone with 32 gigabytes of memory will cost $199.99 with a two-year wireless contract, while a 64-gigabyte version will cost $299.99. The phone was listed at $649 without a contract on Amazon’s website.
The smartphone gives Amazon a way to feature its online store and digital services for games, mobile applications, movies and music on the computing device people take with them wherever they go. Instead of having its app among the hundreds of thousands available through Apple’s App Store or Google Inc.’s Play store, Amazon’s services are the centerpiece of the new device.
While Amazon has used this strategy with its Kindle Fire tablet and Fire TV set-top box, the smartphone market is a much larger opportunity. According to researcher IDC, the number of smartphone users worldwide is quickly approaching 2 billion.

WHAT AFRICA NEEDS

Africa’s greatest need is ethical and entrepreneurial leadership. Too often, we invest in addressing the symptoms of bad leadership in Africa: we give blankets, food, and medicine to those impacted by war, poverty and famine. But these efforts will NEVER stop unless we develop leaders who prevent wars from occurring in the first place, entrepreneurs who create jobs, and scientists who sustain-ably    increase food production and access to healthcare.

Ole Lenku: The Goat Ate My Homework

Last month Britain and France issued travel advisories to its citizens vising Kenya. A week or so later #GikombaAttack occurred where more than ten people lost their life  and over seventy were injured as always the government blamed the British for nor sharing the intelligence.
On Friday last week the British closed its Consulate in Mombasa citing SECURITY concerns. A press briefing from the UK High Commission said the all consular services have now been transferred to Nairobi .
"Following the changes made to our travel advice on Wednesday, May 14, the decision has been made to close our honorary consulate office in Mombasa,” the statement read.
Further on the travel advisory the statement added The travel advice was recently amended to advise against all but essential travel to a specific area around Mombasa,” .
Last night (Monday 15th May) armed militia attacked and killed a reportedly more than 50 people, mostly men. A Dutch observer at the seen however says he counted more than 100 bodies
.A discourse call was made at 9 P.M  five hours later there is no response. Eye witnesses claim that armed militia dressed in police-like attire arrived in two Nissan matatus  with a kind of wailing or hooting 'siren'. The sadists short haphazardly at anyone attracted by the 'siren'.
More than 18 hours later a CS Ole Lenku held a mediocre 'STATEMENT' blaming POLITICAL TEMPERATURE for the attack . He also said something about a RED LINE being crossed...whatever that means.
The thing is , Kenyans are not safe and are tired of 'The Goat Ate My Homework' excuses by the government anytime its response is brought to test. during the #WestGateAttack Ole Lenku issued ridiculous statements like:it was  mattresses burning.
Security has gone from bad to worse under his watch. But do you expect when somebody is picked from the kitchen and made a cabinet secretary overseeing security chiefs and NOT chefs?
On April this year the Prime Minister of South Korea Chung Hong-won resigned following a ferry      accident that left more than 300 people dead or missing. This ought be a case study for the Ole Lenku.

Meanwhile some jobless youths were demonstrating on the streets of Nairobi demanding arrest of Raila Odinga for allegedly being responsible for the #MpeketoniAttack.  At Four O'clock newscast a MCA from Nyeri County was talking about 'Our People' in response to the attack. This is stupidity of the Highest order. We cannot afford to be divided along tribal or political lines on this. This is the crack that our enemies are exploiting :Divide and Rule.
The question is How Many More Kenyans will have to die before an overhaul of the security is done. I mean when will Lenku and co be SACKED?
Wikipedia describes Ole Lenku as Cook and a Comedian:
